Penny Lingenfelter is an Indoor/Outdoor Master Quad Kiteflyer. She's flown from stage to coliseums and after almost 15 years of flying, she says she still doesn't get enough airtime!
Over the years
she's taken 1st to 3rd places in the North West Sport Kite Leagues and national
competitions with AKA (American Kite Association) include 3rd in Freestyle,
2nd and 3rd in Indoor Open Ballet, and 3rd in Master Quad Ballet outside.
She claims competition is a great way to become a better flyer and gain credentials,
but performing demos and giving free kite lessons are her passion.
Eight years ago, her love of kite flying took her inside over the winter,
(a good place to be at in rainy Washington State) where she paid her daughter
$5 an hour to pick up the kite for her. Up - crash, up - crash. Soon all her
hours of practice paid off, and she was receiving invitations to perform indoors
where as they say, "There are no winds or fans, except those in the stands."
Soon her costumed routines were invited out-doors to kite festivals where
the wind often arrives late. She's been spotted as a genie, elf, clown, kite
fairy and more! Her Red, White and Blue flagged Revolution kite with "God
Bless the USA" music playing has brought tears to people's eyes!
But this year - ohhhh look out! Bring the kids! Bring Great Grandma! Penny has hatched a new idea for a routine that is definitely a " blast from the past"! Come see what this slightly crazy Revolution Kiteflyer has planned this year!
Her husband, Steve, can be found quite often at her side untangling line, picking up gear, staying out of her way, and forever lending his love and support.
